We did the walking cupcake tour. There were about 20 people on our tour, which a times made it hard to hear our guide but the sights around us made it enjoyable so it didn't always matter to me. I was able to see places in New York City that I've never seen before. We went to six stops on the tour and the first stop was Baked by Melissa. We got to try a bit sized cupcake which was delicious and I was under the assumption those would be the size of all samples. I was wrong! Before heading to the next shop we got to see Bake Crumbs Shops and learn of their history and that it was a stop on this very tour before. How sad because that would have been awesome. Next stop was Amorino, a gelato paradise. We sampled a spoonful of mango gelato. It was amazing. Amorino makes all their products organic. The mango gelato was made from real mangos no sugar added. Sweeeet! On our way to the next spot we got to see Washington Square Park. That was nice to see and a enjoyable small break from walking. Molly's cupcakes was next. Wow is all I can say. You get to create your own here and it wasn't a bite sized sample. It was a regular sized cupcake. By this point I'm hitting my sugar rush with three more stops to go! BisousCiao was our fourth stop and sampling macaroons was the treat. Never tried one before and maybe if it wouldn't have been the dark chocolate flavor I might have enjoyed it more. I really wished it was the thai tea flavor!! Onward to Milk & Cookies we got to try their salted oat cookie. I had to save mine for later (which was really good) because I couldn't take in so much sweets! The cookie was huge!! My boyfriend also purchased the bacon snap cookie due to his love of bacon. They make all types and anything you can dream of there. The final stop was The Magnolia Bakery for their famous red velvet. This was a bite sized portion so I had to try it. It had a bit of a coffee taste to it so it wasn't my favorite but still enjoyable to nibble on! I was able to take this tour through groupon for only $25 dollars. For that price I recommend it. Even for $50 I would recommend it for two people. The portions were worth it and the guide was knowledgeable and funny. I would take another Great New York Tour again...maybe the Italian one!! Ciao!!

First off, I'd give this 4 1/2 if that was an option as the tour was a lot of fun.

We ordered our tour from Groupon for two families of four. I believe our group had a total of 18 people which was manageable over the Thanksgiving holiday. The biggest issue I had was the start where our confirmation gave us an address but the tour was waiting at the edge of Union Square park. The guide called us to find us which was great. We were only a block or so away, so not a big deal but if you go, pick up is Southwest Corner of the park on the park side.

The tour was likely about 1 mile and half total. We started at Union Square Park and ended up in the Village on Bleeker (don't start and stop at the same place).

1st stop - very small cupcake which was tasty. I'm guessing they do a flavor of the month you get. Everyone got the same flavor.

2nd stop - Crumbs - brought out some samples sizes. Different flavors, but first come, first serve.

3rd stop - Gelato place that was mango. Everyone got a spoonful

4th stop - Got to "make your cupcake" by picking from flavor of cake and icing. About 5 choices each (and my favorite one)

5th stop - Milk and Cookies. It was a salt caramel cook. Kids weren't a big fan. I think it would depend if you like salt or not. No choice, everyone got the same one

6th stop - Magnolia Cafe and red velvet cake. It was nice because they put those in the box to eat or take home.

All in all, the group had fun. I did find it a little weird that the cupcake tour had cookies and gelato as well. They were a nice change of pace, but kind of goes against the theme. We only went in one store as most are small and they bring the food out to you. Again, only one place did you get to pick your flavor.

Always looking for something new to do with our 13yr old and 10 yr old grandchildren, we made reservations through Groupon at a 50% discount for 12 noon on what seemed like the coldest day of the year. Only grandparents can get away with feeding their grandchildren an array of cupcakes and goodies for lunch!

As a Long Island, New Yorker, the 11/2 mile walk from Union Square to Greenwich Village wasn't new. But for a visitor from out of state, this 2 hour tour might be a nice way to see a part of New York City that is not the more famous Times Square or Rockfeller Center, and with 6 stops for yummy sweets along the way.

Mallory, our guide, was adorable with a good personality- enthusiastic and articulate. She greeted us in her "cupcake" knit hat and genuine smile and filled our minds with facts about the area along the way in addition to filling our sweet tooths with cupcakes from NYC's top/award winning bakeries. We even had a gelato taste and a macaron (not macaroon) from the one and only place that makes these in NYC.

I recommend this tour to anyone who wants to do a little different tour in NYC. There were 20 persons in our group, 18 of whom were from the NY/NJ area and only 2 from (of all places in Feb) sunny Miami. International travellers or 1st timers to NYC who have limited time, stay with the famous landmarks first. The Great New York Cupcake Tour is a lot of fun but just icing on the cake!

I found a coupon on living social and decided to take my kids (19 and 23 year old kids) on the tour. We had a blast. Our guide was Shannon (who normally did the chocolate tours) and even if she was just filling in, she was very entertaining and very knowledgeable.

As always, the cupcake from Baked by Melissa was very good. The gelato from Amorino was amazing. Crumbs was okay, normally I find the bigger cupcakes a little dry but the mini ones were good. Molly's was fun since we were able to pick our own flavors. Their cupcakes were good. Milk and cookies was another favorite, the oatmeal cookie with sea salt was soooo good. The red velvet from Magnolia bakery was good but I've had better.

Besides the food, it was nice to walk around and learn about the history of buildings and stuff around the West village.

Bit of advice: wear comfortable shoes, be ready to be all sugared up, bring water and be ready to have a great time!!!!!!

I've lived "near" NYC all my life but never had such a great experience as my Cupcake Tour.
I was a little nervous when I arrived at the meeting spot not to see a sign or kiosk. Mallory was there with her cupcake hat on.
Very well run tour. Easy pace with a lot of stops. Mallory kept us engaged with facts about each area we walked through.
All the cupcakes were delicious. Baked by Mellisa was a tastey tiny cupcake. The next stop was freakin awesome gelato that I will never forget. Then a macaroon which is not that coconut cookie. Then Molly's where you get to pick the cake, frosting and sprinkle of your choice. Then Milk and Cookies where I wrapped my cookie for later. And finally Magnolia's for another bite sized cupcake.
At each stop Mallory delivered our samples quickly despite crowds at each place. We always had time to purchase if so desired.
Two hours of walking helps burn off all those calories.
    Mallory was awesome.
