Description

NEW YORK GHOST WALK

The City that never sleeps and its traditional belief and fiction about New York’s history of plaque and tumultuous times. Ghosts are generally described as solitary essences that haunt locations, objects, or people they were associated with in life, though stories of the phantom armies, ghost trains, phantom ships, and even ghost animals have also been recounted. As one of the great urban centers of the modern world, New York City has one of the densest concentrations of paranormal phenomena, and this spooky walking tour brings the sometimes terrifying otherworldliness of this great city to life, or should we say, death. The home to many of Manhattan’s most memorable stories of history, hauntings and extraordinary encounters with the beyond. Meet your guide and make your haunted tours night out worthwhile.

NEW YORK GHOST WALK ITINERARY

  • Mark Twain's Ghost Just one of many ghost stories from New York’s House of Death
  • Potter's Field The mass grave under one of New York’s most beautiful parks
  • Ghost Pyromania! Ghosts have set fire to this famous restaurant more than once, and not because of the service!
  • The Ghost Poet Often seen sitting at his favorite corner table of this West Village watering hole, before vanishing, obviously.
  • The Vice President's Poltergeist Causing way too much mischief now he’s out of office!
  • Edgar Allen PoeNo ghost tour would be complete without him
  • Gay Street Phantom Do deceased flappers and dead drunks still haunt this quiet little street?
  • Hangman's Tree The oldest tree in Manhattan has seen quite a few hangings in its time
  • The Ghost of Roosevelt's dog Roams the Park in search of the thirty-second president of the United States
  • There are many more ghouls and ghost stories in store on this spine chilling tour!

“Highly recommend the Ghost Tour”
By UnaFee (a TripAdvisor Member) on January 4, 2014
I went on this tour last Saturday night 11/2/13. I had purchased the tickets on Amazon Local (2 for $25). I loved it. The tour guide Sean was great, he waited until everyone was together before speaking to the group. The group was quite large so he gave us trivia questions along the way to keep the group together. Along with hearing about the ghosts inhabiting certain buildings he pointed out many other points of interest along the way including the "Friends" building which I was particularly excited about. I know I will be taking trips back to a few of the haunteds bars along the route to try to experience a ghost 1st hand.
Great tour, great guide and interesting facts and history along the way. I highly recommend this. There is a lot of walking involved so do wear comfortable shoes.

“New York Ghost Walk - Fantastic!”
By drmike99 (a TripAdvisor) on January 4, 2014
Just did the New York Ghost Walk tour offered by Great New York Tours and had a fantastic time. Would highly recommend this to both visitors to New York as well as to locals interested in the history of New York (and/or ghosts!). Jackie our tour guide was very interesting and knowledgeable about the ghoulish stories behind the haunted buildings and areas of the neighborhood. She also did a nice job of engaging with all of the folks on the tour, which included a nice mix of couples, families and seniors. The tour itself starts in Washington Square park and lasts approximately 2 hours. So many interesting stories combined with a leisurely walking tour of some of the most beautiful and historic neighborhoods! Will definitely do this again with friends.

“Great NY Tours Greenwich Village Ghost Tour”
By Allan P (a TripAdvisor Member) on March 4, 2014
Even though it was frigid out we all had a fascinating time on the Great NY Tours Greenwich Village Ghost Tour. I thought I know NYC and the Village quite well but I learned more than a few things during this tour. Interwoven in the tour were quizzes on NYC history and pop culture. Marcy was our guide and she did a fine job keeping us entertained and informed - and keeping our minds off of the very low temps. We visited the Edgar Allan Poe home, the hanging tree in Washington Square Park and other points of interest related to the lives of Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr, Jimmy Walker among many others. Recommended........

Had such an amazing time with ALEX, our tour guide, or as a male stranger walking by said (I'm paraphrasing) "THE MOST COOLEST LOOKING TOUR GUIDE EVER". I would've said "THE DREAMIEST LOOKING TOUR GUIDE EVER". His height, European accent, and laid back charisma made this New Yorker enjoy and learn a few things about her city. Very informative on the history and little tidbits about the East Village to Greenwich Village you would never have known about have you not been on this walking tour. The 2 hours flew by and with that the BEST GHOST WALK EVER!
